When you work at a consulting firm, it's not uncommon to be asked "what do you do?" At Optimistic Anthropology, we often say that we help organizations and collaborations solve the complex social problems they don't yet know how to solve. And we do it through fieldwork, emergent learning, and culture-shaping.Most folks grasp fieldwork (aka qualitative research) and culture-shaping (aka team and leadership development) pretty quickly. And while people like the sound of emergent learning, it's not a particularly well-known practice. Since we believe it is a powerful process and practice to learn, develop, and implement strategy when taking on complex problems in ambiguous environments, we thought we'd elaborate and answer the question: What the Heck is Emergent Learning?

Whether you have six days, six weeks, or six months, Optimistic Anthropology's Sabbatical Design Services can help you make your sabbatical a meaningful experience. Our process will help you hone in what you want to learn during your sabbatical, and connect you with resources and experiences that can support you along the way.
