Greetings

From November through May, I took a "life sabbatical." During those six months, I traveled on four continents, and through eleven countries and ten U.S. states. Every day, I was energized by the opportunity to learn something new through art, culture, nature, and community; by the reminders of our shared humanity, history, and struggles; and by the opportunity to step back and reflect on how I want to use my knowledge and experience and energy to contribute positively to the world.  This is why I'm excited to introduce you to Optimistic Anthropology. It's a consultancy where we believe that people and organizations working in all sectors have a role in creating positive social, economic, and environmental outcomes.  We also recognize that many organizations fall into a trap by wanting to jump straight to implementing solutions. Yet, solving our toughest problems requires understanding the culture and context which gave rise to them in the first place and developing the necessary skills to design and implement effective solutions. That's why Optimistic Anthropology works with organizations and cross-sector collaborations to shape cultures and solve problems that can create and sustain a positive future. What does that mean and how will Optimistic Anthropology do this work? So glad you asked! Check out our website to learn about our approach and examples from our work. You can also read  how we developed our name, testimonials, and explore the story behind the photo collage at the top of this email.I'd love to hear what you think! Please share your thoughts, questions, and ideas on who could benefit from this work by commenting on the blog or get in touch via email, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn.  I'm looking forward to hearing from you.Be well and do good,Alison GoldP.S.
